1. Pittsburgh Steelers - They're 3-1 without their best offensive player, and they have the best defense in the league. The addition of Ben Roethlisberger will only make them better.
2. Baltimore Ravens - The Ravens have beaten a very good Jets team, and although they beat Pittsburgh, they didn't win in convincing enough fashion to warrant their moving to the top spot. The victory over Denver helps, but still not enough.
3. New York Jets - Also 4-1, the Jets have won 4 straight after their Week 1 debacle against Baltimore. They've beaten 3 very good opponents in New England, Miami, and just yesterday Minnesota. The Jets haven't been absolutely spectacular, but they've found ways to win games.
4. Atlanta Falcons - After dropping their first game to Pittsburgh, they're 4-1 and they have a signature win in New Orleans, and crushed the 3-2 Cardinals.
5. Indianapolis Colts - They're only 3-2, but they found a way to beat a very good Chiefs team this week. They still have Peyton Manning. Until they're eliminated it's tough to bet against them.
6. Kansas City Chiefs - They're 3-1, and although they've beaten Sand Diego, they were extremely competitive and their defense was extremely good this weekend, holding future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning without a touchdown for the first time in my memory.
7. New Orleans Saints - They've beaten Minnesota and should've beaten Atlanta if it wasn't for their kicker choking on a chip shot field goal. Inexcusable loss to Arizona, but it was on the road, and like the Colts, until someone knocks them off, it's hard to bet against the champs.
8. New England Patriots - Tom Brady lost his biggest threat in Randy Moss, but they added Deion Branch back to the mix. The Patriots biggest weakness is their defense. As long as Tom Brady is on the field they're going to be tough to beat, but eventually the lack of defense will catch up to them.
9. New York Giants - I don't think they're any good, but they're hot and their defense is playing great. They're getting a lot of pressure from their front 4, it's very reminiscent of their Super Bowl win (which I still contend was very lucky).
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - The Bucs are 3-1, with their only loss to Pittsburgh in Week 2. They're second in a competitive division with New Orleans and Atlanta, but despite the better record, they're still not quite on New Orleans' level.
32. Buffalo Bills - The woeful Bills are 0-5, but it's not just the fact they're winless, it's how they lost. As Colin Cowherd always says, "use the eye test." The Bills are not only 0-5, but they just look like they're 0-20. They're painfully bad, their defense is abysmal.
