Classic Favre

Down 12-0 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Favre is playing terrible.  Then, all of a sudden, a light bulb clicked on.  I went from being totally comfortable to sitting up and saying, "Crap, they're going to choke this game away."  Favre brought his Vikings back against my Jets, pulling it within 2 points (Going for 2 there just wasn't the right play.  It was too early).  I thought it was over in the beginning of the third  quarter, I thought it was over in the end of the third quarter, just the other way.  Then, stupidly I got all wrapped up in the game that I forgot, just like he suddenly arrived, he suddenly came back to reality, back to the old man he is, and back to classic Brett Favre.

Favre's first two and half quarters was horrendous.  Their drive recaps; five punts, two fumbles, then another punt.  Favre was 3 for 8 with 31 yards and two fumbles.  Then, the light went on and he was just unbelievable.  He carved up the Jets defense like they weren't even there, and they're no pushovers, just the best defense in the league last year, and pretty good again this year.  He then went on a run of three touchdowns out of the next four drives, with a punt in there too.  Then, there was a total mis-managed Jets drive completely throwing clock management out the window, and giving Favre, the Hall of Fame quarterback who's got the hot hand and is going through their defense probably as quickly as Jenn Sterger went through Favre's pictures.  So, Favre and the Vikings got the ball back with 1:48 left in the game.  They got a first down and then, Brett Favre turned into Brett Favre.  Pick six, Dwight Lowery, game over.

It takes a lot for the Jets to be out of the spotlight, but with Favre's promiscuous pictures, and the acquisition of Randy Moss, the Vikings did just that.  This game showed the maturation of Mark Sanchez, who even admitted in an interview after the game that this was a game they would not have won last year.  He didn't play his best game, but he didn't make the crucial mistake that all Jets fans would've been waiting for last year.  He has found a way to avoid said mistake, the exact opposite of Brett Favre.  Sanchez did what he had to do, and could've been more successful had Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes each not dropped a couple passes that hit them in the hands.  As much as it was all Vikings news going into last night's game, and still is for the most part, Mark Sanchez's maturation is still a great thing to see if you're a Jets fan, and with that I think we'll accept not being the center of attention this time.
